Isn’t the NHS supposed to be free?
The NHS provides most health care to most people free of charge but there are exceptions and services for which fees are charged. If you are not sure please ask to see the Practice Manager who will be able to provide further information.
Do GPs have to do non-NHS work for their patients?
With certain limited exceptions GPs can refuse to carry out non-NHS work on behalf of their patients. Whilst GPs will always attempt to assist their patients they are not required to do Non-NHS work.

The provision of any non NHS services is at the discretion of the surgery and there is no automatic entitlement to provide these. If you have paid but we are unable to fulfil the request we will of course issue a refund.
